Body Glove: A femme niche in a protection/projection binary - a binary brought about by a phallocentric culture. The female body is to be rescued and re-explored, re-functioned, transformed, and contested.
One has to extrude the setting from the concept’s dramatic arc. A process both conscious and unconscious. The way we connect with materials is in that secret area we call ‘intuition’.
We are designing women.

For our final event of the Fall 2012 Season, The G$P is proud to present artist + owner of Faye’s Video + Espresso Bar, MICHAEL McCONNELL as he debuts his entire Neighborhood Collectors Series. Earlier this year, Michael set out to create an illustrated trading card set containing 52 of the names, faces + stats of just a few of the faithful friends in his Faye’s community. The set is now complete (including 4 bonus cards!) and it’s time to party! …HELL YEAH!
AND..Faye’s wouldn’t be FAYE’S without these…
Second only to “THE BENCH”…Faye’s widely renowned sandwich board delivers wonderfully wry, yet equally heartfelt drawings daily. Musician + artist, Greer McGettrick is known to be the most prolific individual responsible for handling the beloved black board. Word on the street is she’s creating a special series of chalk drawings that will be available to you the very same night!
**PLUS** a bit of a VHS sale + HOT FAYE’s COFFEE!!***

WALKIN’ SOLO is a beautifully quiet view of the American landscape by Italian photographer Matteo Musci. Mostly void of lifeforms, Musci’s images allow us a moment alone to gaze in repose amid the often overlooked beauty of an empty truck stop or musty roadside motel suite. A limited edition of 25 full color catalogs will be available.
The Garage Sale Project is proud to present Bay Area based artist Charlie Callahan whose work utilizes photorealistic images of sea urchins as ” symbols of cyclical balance, continuous time and a vehicle for relaxed thought.” Charlie says,” If our bodies are a microcosm of the ocean, which has continuously been represented throughout art history as a mystical place of inspiration, the ocean indeed supports us metaphysically.” Charlie’s work was included in exhibitions at Marianne Boesky (NY), S.F. MOMA Gallery, Parklife , Samson Projects (Boston), Up In OI (Hanoi, Vietnam) and Mollusk Surf Shop.

The G$P demands quality!! That last flyer was crap. The Art Department was jet lagged and hung over when they submitted it. Luckily, our office just received an anonymous email containing this high quality graphic which is totally ripped off from the Surf Punks “Locals Only” album from 1982. How fortunate! It’s a wonderfully fitting title for next FRIDAY’s blowout opener! I think we’ll use it!
Our good friends Steiny and Dave are coming up from Santa Cruz bringing a truckload of stuff for their garage sale showcase happening SEPTEMBER 9th. We are ready to get back to it along with you our friends and fans. And, though we’ve stepped it up with the website, we are keeping it real. Always. See! This epic flyer just showed up from our creative department….
